Despite the recent heat, it has been great to have our students and staff back in school. Over the first 2 days, students met with each of their teachers at least once, took school pictures, and participated in grade-level assemblies. Overall, I was impressed by the energy of our students despite the weather being extremely hot. Below I have provided a link to school picture information as well as the opening school presentation.
At the end of August, former students Emma Low, Audrey Langley, and Claudia Cummings, were recognized for their work to create an interpretive “Tree Walk” at Atkinson Common. Receiving service credit while in high school, these students worked collaboratively with local environmentalists. They researched and designed the displays to identify many of Atkinson’s tree species and provide in-depth facts on each tree’s ecology and its impact on society. Their work will live on for years to come and allow others to learn about trees and their histories while enjoying the park. Thank you to Ted Boretti, ACES, and the city officials for partnering together to provide an awesome learning experience for our students.
As a reminder, NHS has a College and Career Center aimed at pairing students with local organizations and businesses to explore their own interests and passions. Depending on the type of experience, students can earn internship or service credit while gaining practical experience to guide their future decisions. It is our goal that every student graduates NHS having had a work, internship, or service experience.
The Newburyport All-Sports Boosters needs volunteers to assist in the Snack Shack at Newburyport High School for all home football games, the ALS Cup for boys and girls soccer, and Play for a Cure for field hockey.
- A minimum of 10 volunteers are needed for each game
- Volunteer slots have you arriving 45 minutes before game time
- Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age
