Northern Essex Community College

  • Students can take college level courses during the school day at NECC and earn both high school and college credit. Students can take morning classes at NHS and then a class at NECC from 12:30 – 2 pm four days per week and use the Learning Center on the fifth day. This allows students to get back to NHS in time for after-school activities. The NECC program allows a student to take two college-level courses per semester. Each semester's college level course is worth 5 credits.

Students must have their own transportation to and from NECC. Students can review courses available using the NECC website

*Some classes are available remotely. Students can determine this by reviewing available courses at NECC*

Make sure to see your Guidance Counselor in order to apply and register.  They will help you see if any DE course will fit into your schedule and assist you in making changes if possible.
Per Credit cost is $115 (campus/online)

Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU)

  • Over the past year, some of our teachers have been accepted as adjunct faculty for the SNHU in the High School Program. These teachers are able to teach an approved SNHU class at Newburyport High School.

Students enrolled in an SNHU class at Newburyport High School can register and earn college credit at $100 per 3 undergraduate credits (an additional $25 if a lab fee is involved). Students will be informed of available SNHU classes.
