NHS Principal Communications - July 11, 2023

Hello Clipper Families,

I hope you are having a great summer so far despite the rainy weather. This message comes with just a few updates.

Have a great night and Go Clippers!

SUMMER READING

As a reminder, have your student check-out the high school's library website.  This has information regarding summer reading.  As always, we encourage our students to read throughout the summer vacation.

SUMMER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Many of our students continue to keep busy during the summer.  Volunteering is a great way to support our community while also meeting new friends and honing networking skills.  Thanks to the work of Ms. Moran and our Interact Club, have organized the following opportunities below.  If your student is interested and available for any of the events below please have them click on the sign-up form or email Ms. Moran at jmoran@newburyport.k12.ma.us.

As a reminder, students can earn 2.5 credits for every 75 hours of logged community service credit.  This is recorded on the student's transcript.

HOST AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

Our international program continues to grow.  This school year we will host 10 students.  They represent the countries of Brazil, Spain, Italy, Norway, and Germany. With the exception of 1 student who recently registered with us, all of the students have a host family for the school year.

To help with the placement of students, we work with a company called Educatius Group who supports our international students and their host families.  Through this organization, host families are:

  • paid a monthly stipend to the host families and students have their own medical insurance and money to spend.
  • Educatius Group offers 24/7 support for host families and students.

If you would like to learn more about being a host parent, you can contact Maria Ribon from Educatius Group atmaria.ribon@educatius.org or call/text at 617-970-1999.
