NHS Principal Communications - November 29, 2022
Hello Clipper Families,
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday and weekend. We ended last week with our Color Day rally and it was exciting to have our full student body together to celebrate eachother and participate in some friendly class competitions. I’d also like to commend all of our student-athletes, band members, and our new cheer squad on their successful seasons. Special kudos to our boys’ soccer team for winning the Division III state championship.
Alongside all of the happenings of the fall season, our theater students have been extremely busy preparing for their production of the show Tartuffe. Opening night is this Thursday at 7:00 PM and the show will also take place Friday and Saturday nights at the same time.
Below you will find other updates in the following areas:

ENVIRONMENTAL OPEN HOUSE
In partnership with the Alliance of Climate and Environmental Stewards, we will host an Environmental Open House on December 14th during the Clipper Block period. Like last year, students will be able to network with organizations and companies involved in the environmental field. They will be able to learn about different programs for future internship and/or volunteer opportunities. To inform students about the open house, our student run Action News is preparing a news segment highlighting projects students participated in from last year’s open house.
Here is a the summary from the November 15th School Council meeting. Over the first 2 meetings, the team has reviewed and reflected on performance data relative to the high school in order to provide feedback on school improvement goals. In the summary, you will see the team’s input towards our school improvement plan.

Check out this picture of our Sailbot class in action. Students made use of CAD software and our NEF sponsored laser cutter to design this mold for the hull of the boat that will be used in this year’s competition. This class, along with Industrial Design, Computer Aided Design and Engineering in the 21st Century are great options for students exploring an interest in the manufacturing realm.
