Dual Enrollment Programs

  • Get a jump on your college education!

Dual Enrollment programs allow you to earn both high school and college credits at the same time. By successfully completing Dual Enrollment courses, you can satisfy high school graduation requirements and also transfer those credits towards a college degree. While the transferability of these credits may vary between colleges, many institutions will accept and apply them towards your degree.

Northern Essex Community College (NECC)

  • Students have the opportunity to enroll in college level courses at NECC while still in high school, earning credits for both. This can be done by attending morning classes at NHS and then taking a NECC class from 12:30 – 2 pm four days a week, with access to the Learning Center on the fifth day. This schedule allows students to return to NHS in time for after-school activities. Each semester, students can earn 5 credits for successfully completing a college level course at NECC.

    Important Dual Enrollment Requirements

    • Students must have their own transportation to and from NECC. Students can review courses available using the NECC website
    • Some classes are available remotely. Students can determine this by reviewing available courses at NECC
    • Students should make an appointment with their school counselor in order to apply and register.  They will help to see if a dual enrollment course will fit into their schedule and assist in making changes if possible
    • One-three credit course costs $345-MA resident and books/materials are bought separately
    • Students must use the NECC Application Link to apply for the program
