Important bus pass information: Students who are registered but have not recieved their bus pass, may ride the bus without a pass until October 2nd.
Salter Transportation reminds all families that bus transportation during the first few weeks of school can be a challenge. If you don't see your expected stop listed:- Go to the closest stop near you.
- Send an email to David Pulsifer dpulsifer@saltertrans.com
- Provide your child's name, address, school and any additional info you want to add.
- Salter will review your request and reply back via email.
After the first couple weeks Salter will send the district an updated copy of the routes for us to repost. Thank you for your patience as we start off the new year.

How do I register a Kindergarten student or register by mail?
Please use this form to register a kindergarten student or to register by mail.

Who can ride the bus?
Any student who is a resident of Newburyport can purchase a bus pass. Only some students are eligible for free transportation.

Who is eligible for free transportation?
In 2023-24, all students (who are Newburyport residents) in kindergarten through grade 6 who live 1.5 miles or more from school.
All students who qualify for free and reduced lunch.

How is mileage to school measured?
Mileage is measured from home to school using Google Maps.

What do I need for my child to ride the bus?
For the 2023-24 School Year
- All students must have a bus pass to ride.
- All students must complete a bus registration on MySchoolBucks.
- All registrations must be received prior to the deadline of June 25, 2024. (New student enrollments are accepted.)

If my child qualifies for free transportation, do I need to register?
Yes. Even students who qualify for free transportation must register for a bus pass using MySchoolBucks.com.

Who can purchase a bus pass?
- All students (who are residents of Newburyport) in kindergarten through Grade 6 who live less than 1.5 miles from school.
- All students in Grades 7-12.

What is the fee to purchase a bus pass?
$300.00 per student for the first 2 students in a family.
Additional family members (over 2 students): $100 per student.

What if I miss the deadline?
Registrations received after the deadline will be subject to a $25 late fee, students will be placed on a wait list.
Wait listed students will be added based on seating availability.

Can I purchase a one-way or partial year pass?
No, only full-day/full-year passes are available.

Can my child ride any bus with a pass?
No, students can only ride their assigned bus.
