NHS Visits Atria Senior Living Center
Bridging Generations: Newburyport High School Spreads Joy at Atria Senior Living Center
Newburyport High School’s cheerleaders, band members, and football players recently brightened the day for residents at Atria Senior Living Center. The students arrived with an infectious energy, eager to connect with the community and share their talents.
A bit of rain didn’t stop our Clippers from giving the residents what was promised, a performance! With the original plan of performing outside, our staff and students were quick to adapt when rain came right as the students planned to begin their show. The performance was moved inside, where a group of eager residents filled a room excited to engage with our high schoolers.
The cheerleaders kicked the afternoon off with a lively routine! The residents clapped along, many even joining in with nostalgic cheers from their own Newburyport High School days. Next our football team recited some of their game day chants. The band delivered a grand finale where the notes of familiar songs had the residents on their feet and humming along. Former Clippers Patty & Richard, now residents at Atria brought smiles to our staff and students with their sweet story. Patty, a former NHS Cheerleader and Richard a former NHS football player have been together since highschool. Patty was thrilled to see the Cheerleaders from her alma mater perform, she even got to hold the gold pom poms!
The visit filled everyone’s hearts with a little extra joy. It not only brightened the residents' day but also left a lasting impression on our students, teaching the importance of kindness and connection, two pillars of our NPS Community. We are proud of the positive community impact our high schoolers make throughout Newburyport!
