The E-Club welcomes anybody who is open and curious about the environment, and cares about helping it thrive. The goal of the Environmental Club is to engage students in meaningful conversations about how to make the school more environmentally friendly and brainstorm ways in which each of us, as individuals, can be more environmentally conscious in our own homes, in addition to the work we do together to serve the community. The goal of this newsletter is to inform the greater student population of our initiatives and inspire them to become more sustainable on their own terms with tips and tricks. This month's newsletter is centered around how to make the holidays less wasteful.

Our team had an outstanding performance at the international competition at McGill University in Montreal. A special congratulation goes to Theo Roberts who was recognized by the Model UN Committee as an outstanding delegate. Thank you to Mr. Matt LaChapelle and Ms. Wendy Crofts for their work coaching the students for this very involved event.  Also, thank you to Ms. Catherine Taggart for helping to chaperone!

During the October meeting of our school council, the team reviewed and summarized data relative to our high school’s performance in the areas of achievement, student growth, graduation rate, attendance rate, students successfully completing advanced coursework, and school climate.  Here is a link to a summary of October’s meeting. Over the next month, this team will provide feedback on the high school’s improvement plan.

Our students continue to be busy providing service throughout the Newburyport region. The International Cultural Club supported the Harborside 5K and marathon. Also, thank you to the Interact Club and National Honor Society students for volunteering at Saturday Night’s successful Newburyport Education Foundation Auction.

Speaking of the Interact Club, Ms. Jill Moran has been recognized as a Robert C. Wood Memorial Hero.  This is a tremendous accomplishment. As proclaimed at last week’s Rotarian Foundation Dinner, Ms. Moran “has fostered an environment at our school where volunteering is fun and cool.”  We are very fortunate to have her as a part of our faculty and it is great to see our Interact Club thrive and serve as a model for other schools.

  • Consider an Endicott College Class

Our Endicott College Dual Enrollment course this fall is E-Sports Management.

If you are interested in learning more about it, check out this flier. Email Ms. Gee or see your counselor if you would like to enroll or have questions.  This is a great way to earn college credit alongside your high school credit.
