Lorna Hossack MSRN

The health services at Newburyport High School are part of the student services department. My role in the school includes:

  • ensuring that all students who are attending the high school are properly immunized
  • providing health education to students about issues such as nutrition, health management
  • providing resource information and referrals to community agencies for students and their families
  • administering first aid and triage for injuries that occur during the school day
  • administering medications to students who require medication in the school setting (see medication policy link)and who provide proper documentation to the school
  • health screening such as postural screening (for 9th grade students), vision, and hearing screening
  • act as a liaison between the school,student's families, and the medical community to maximize student health and learning
