Home Education

Home education is governed by Massachusetts law and regulations. The Newburyport Public Schools complies with these laws and regulations and supports families who legally home school their children.

Approval by the Superintendent/Designee is required before a parent or guardian withdraws a child from school with the intent of home education. Parents who intend to home school children beginning in Grade 1 must receive approval before the school year (in which the child turns six years old) begins.

Please contact the Office of the Superintendent with questions or for assistance.
