When you're a Freshman...

  • Learn about NHS policy and practices
  • Learn about graduation requirements
  • Maximize the use of enrichments, meeting with teachers and counselors
  • Get involved at NHS
  • Plan on making new friends
  • Know you can always ask for help
  • Study, study and study
  • Plan on job shadowing
  • Start to develop a four year course plan with your counselor
  • Utilizing support services

When you're a Sophomore...

  • Study, study and study
  • Participate in the Career Fair at NECCO in January
  • Plan on the MCAS in the Spring
  • Study, study and study
  • Second semester meet with your Student Support Counselor and review course selections for Junior year
  • Start to compare the many assessments taken at the career expo and fair to help you formulate post graduation plans
  • Advocate for yourself

When you're a Junior...

  • Take the PSAT's in October
  • Start going to college fairs
  • Study, study and study
  • Take the ASVAB (Armed Service Vocational Battery). It helps assess your interests. Given in October at NHS
  • Seek our your Student Support Counselor; discuss senior year courses and post graduation (2nd semester)
  • Take SAT's and/or ACT's in the spring
  • Visit Colleges in the summer
  • Visit College websites
  • Attend Jr. Parent's College Night in the spring
  • Plan your teacher recommendations
